Justo Amable is a well known Cuban artist, born February 2, 1966.
The main theme of his work is migration: where am I and where would I like to be, what do I have and what can I loose. It seems that his artworks want to make us accomplices of an act in which the emigrant or the artist can not define whether he should go or remain. His work is a representation of the desire in the mind of the emigrant: A fantasy in which the emigrant risks expensive resources to save himself.
But Justo Amable renounces taking sides in the ideological game. His aim is not to give answers to the immigration conflict, he focuses on its dream side—that romantic and essential motor that moves human beings: their illusions.
